I would like to help you – but I think you should do it yourself…
Nicolai Elberling, Cognitive Hypnotherapist
Do you suffer from Tinnitus, and would love to get som help relieving you of your Tinnitus?

Then please read about my effort to develop a more streamlined tinnitus treatment programme.

Why would you use it and what is it good for?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is often referred to as brief therapy, as it may resolve your problems within a mere handfull of sessions.

This form of therapy is proven to work well on anxiety and depression, something we have documented with research. Though it also seems to be effective against panic and stress, and may have a fast and effective impact on all kinds of phobia and fears including fear of flying and fear of public speaking.

It may prove effective to free yourself of smoking and any other form of addiction and eating disorders though we often find that the real issues hiding beneath these may take longer to unearth before we can identify and treat them.

It appears useful in tackling lack of confidence, low self esteem and is used with good results on things like post traumatic stress (PTS) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

Using cognitive hypnotherapy I will not only help you rid yourself of your problem, but just as much help you get to where you know, you no longer have those problems because you feel great, standing on that stage, talking to strangers, touching that spider, just having the confidence, the joy from living, breathing, doing the things you do, having the ability to relax and trust yourself completely and the fact that whatever life brings you, you will handle it.

Just imagine the power enclosed in letting go of your fears and inhibitions, and in stead of moving away from your issues and problems, that you start directing your focus onto the things you actually want in your life, things you may dream about, hope for, things that may truly matter, driving you to grow, expand and improve. That small but so powerful change, affecting anything you do, is exactly what I will help you make.

What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?

With Cognitive Hypnotherapy we are using hypnosis to establish communication directly with the unconscious mind, with the intent of helping you to solve your problems and improve your life.

The unconscious mind is a powerful thing, and as it is controlling everything that the mind and body do and have the potential to do, it holds the key to any change we would want to make. The conscious mind has little control over the unconscious, so establishing a more direct communication with the unconscious mind, can be quite a benefit.

You may have heard about the concept of trance as something part of hypnosis, this is true, but the form of trance we will be using is not the trance as typically depicted in movies and on stage. We are not heavily interested in creating any deep form of trance, but will be using what could be referred to as everyday natural trance.

This form of trance is something you create yourself as part of you daily life. You will know this from driving your car, doing the dishes or brushing your teeth. These chores may often be done automated, you may have experienced to zone out while doing them, not really being aware of exactly what you did, not necessarily able to remember it clearly. This is a light form of trance, and we will be using trance of this form to establish communication with your subconscious mind having it cooperating to solve your problems and help you improve.

The beauty of it all is that it is incredibly easy for you, as you are already well experienced in creating exactly the trance that we will need.

Before trying to enlist the unconscious mind in this way, we will spend quite some time, identifying exactly how you create your problem. This is to identify the specific coding in the unconscious mind that no longer serves you well and is part of maintaining your problem.

When identified, this is the subconscious coding that we will work to change, adapting to fit to your current understanding, belief and values.

Plan to get well

Becoming well is a joined effort between you as the client and me as the therapist, something none of us can do well alone since, if you arrive to therapy ready to pay for my help, we could assume that your problem is not something that you find you are able to tackle alone yet – at least not in a time efficient way.

It is therefore not just up to me to make you well, since regardless of how well I may know my field of work and how capable I might be, it all comes down to how well the two of us are able to relate.

With that said, the work we will do together will be me and you, enlisting your unconscious mind to help us and that means we can tackle a broad variety of problems, because the unconscious mind controls almost anything going on in your body, mind and thoughts. It controls a great deal of your life, happiness, relations, actions, capabilities and may even have a very big say in your values, beliefs and sense of self.

This means that it is such a powerful ally, and though we all might find it hard to control with our conscious mind, exactly because consciousness is just a a small subsegment of the unconscious mind, we may indeed enlist it to help us through joined effort.

Aim to excel

Now, the therapy we are doing, is not just about helping you with your problems, but just as much about helping you become better, regardless of whether you find yourself having a problem or not.

As we are working with reprogramming ineffective coding in the mind, there is really no big difference between helping you get rid of a phobia or becoming better at giving a speech, being attentive as a parent or increasing your rate of learning.

Your unconscious mind can rule it all, and the more the skills you need are something that truly gives you meaning, direction or fulfillment, anything that will motivate you on the subconscious level, the more ease we might have at making your subconsciousness do the heavy lifting of change.

Trust in the process

The process we are following means that as a minimum we will plan for 3 sessions. Some people will find their issues solved within 3 sessions only, steadfastly continuing towards the goals they have set, while others may need more time and further sessions.

The sessions will follow a clear pattern:

  1. Mapping the ground
  2. Making the change
  3. Checking progress and adjusting the aim
  4. Making things permanent and ending therapy

This four step approach represents an adaptable process, where we will repeat step 3 until we get it right, or have changed all the aspects related to the issue that we need to.

Most therapy however, happens between session, and how well you follow the things I may ask of you, can be the thing that makes all the difference to how fast and completely you could recover. This includes listening on a daily basis to the download I may send you, keeping a diary of changes observed and sending me written answers to the questions I might ask you.

In this respect it is important to remember that therapy is not something I do to you, but rather something we do together. A joined effort, where the results will depend on how well and openly we manage to work together.

The sessions we book are typical for one and a half hour. I do a lot of my work remotely using a video conference tool called Zoom.us. It is stable, secure and simple to get and use. And best of all it is 100% free to use for my clients.

If after the first session any one of us do not feel, that this is the way forward for you, then we will stop, and I will give you a refund.

Will I lose control?

You will not lose control, and I cannot make you cluck like a chicken.

During hypnosis you will be in full control and be able to stop what we do at any moment you wish. Hypnosis is simply an effective method of establishing a level of interaction with your subconscious mind, with the purpose of using it to solve your issues.

What if I can’t be hypnotised?

Everyone can be hypnotised. The approach we take in cognitive hypnotherapy is to use a very light form of trance, what I also refer to as the every day nature of trance. This kind of trance is something you do on a regular basis, and though the specific combination of trance methods you use most may be individual, we all do this kind of trance naturally.

In other words, even though you may feel it may be something you might be really bad at, you will still go into trance naturally during our sessions. This may also happen now while reading this, thinking about your issues, as easily as later while we talk about what we need to address.

What if my problem cannot be solved?

Then you can ask for your money back.

It is worth noticing that the unconscious mind does not like change, as it represents uncertainty and since the process of change requires more energy than just keeping the problem.

Your subconsciousness may therefore try to resist changing, convincing you that it cannot be done, it is not worth the effort, you are going to be a mess for trying or if anyone finds out you may be ridiculed.

Fearing that your problem cannot be solved, is just that; Resistance from your unconscious mind, and once you start recognising this form of resistance for what it is, you can get back in control of the process.
